Malaysia Airlines Cargo Service
The air cargo subsidiary operates three A330-200F freighters from Kuala Lumpur International Airport. It offers a variety of services and has belly space capacity for approximately 100 worldwide locations. The center operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and provides integrated services under one roof. A centralized document office oversees inbound, outgoing, and transshipment goods to ensure smooth paperwork and processing. The Royal Malaysian Customs’ closeness to the facility further simplifies cargo clearance, which is available around the clock.
The facility, located in a free commercial zone, provides plenty of room for value-added and distribution operations. It covers 108 acres and has a processing area of 92,900 square meters, with the capacity to handle up to one million tonnes of cargo per year and the potential to expand to three million tonnes. Storage facilities encompass more than 27,000 square meters, with 6,500 storage bins and an additional 74,320 square meters reserved for freight forwarders.
Advanced material handling systems improve operating efficiency by utilizing completely automated storage and processing technology. The facility uses automated storage and lifting technologies to accommodate over 2,000 ULDs, as well as 12 stacker cranes across 6,500 storage places to handle bulk freight. Automated workstations speed up build and break operations, while proper ULD handling assures exact control.
